Gabriele Honecker

Gabriele Honecker studied physics (Diplom) and subsequently received her Ph.D. at the University of Bonn in the fields of high-energy physics, particle physics and mathematical physics. The title “Professor as Juniorprofessor off-duty” was awarded to her exceptionally by the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.

After completing her Ph.D., Gabriele Honecker worked as a research associate at various international institutions, in particular at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain), the Max Planck Institute for Physics (Munich), the European Organization for Nuclear Research CERN in Geneva (Switzerland) and the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium), before she moved to the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz as Juniorprofessor and stand-in for a Full Professor, where she gained extensive experience in a wide range of lecture topics in physics, peer review activities, third-party funding, academic self-administration and coordination of her own scientific research group.  Further research stays include international centres of excellence such as the Isaak Newton Institute in Cambridge (UK), the Kavli Institute in Santa Barbara (USA) and the Galileo Galilei Institute in Florence (Italy) as well as guest lecturing in Chengdu (China).

Gabriele Honecker has been working in the field of Intellectual Property in Munich patent law firms since September 2018. In April 2020, she joined LifeTech IP, where she continues her training as German patent attorney and representative before the European Patent Office. Her technical fields so far include electrical engineering (in particular high frequency, transmission and communications engineering, mobile communications, automotive electrics and electrical circuits), general mechanical engineering and mechanical technologies (in particular utility vehicles, internal combustion engines, hybrid drives, cooling and heating technology), medical technology, optics and laser, nuclear and particle physics.
